Key points:
- May Yul-Edochie serves Emeka Ugwuonye a legal warning. The notice cites cyberbullying and online defamation
- The firm seeks N1bn as damages for harsh posts. They also ask for a full, public apology
- He must stop all claims and pull down past posts. He has 48 hours to meet the terms
Two fresh legal shots just rang out online. May Yul-Edochie has moved hard against her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye. A formal letter now orders him to stop harsh posts. It also demands huge cash as redress.

The firm is Gray Law Partners in Lagos. The paper is stamped and signed by Esther Chinaza Fijo, Esq. The date on it reads 21 August 2025. It targets Emeka by full name and Ikoyi address.
Cease-and-desist letter and big cash claim
The letter lists the core claims in bold. It says Emeka has “cyberstalked” and “cyberbullied” their client. It adds gaslighting, public shaming, and malicious falsehood. It frames his posts as a “calculated assault” on her name.
The lawyers say his posts go past mere talk. They say he pushed false facts on X and Facebook. His handles are named in the paper for clear trace. They insist the words harmed her work and her safety.
What her solicitors want within 48 hours
The notice sets three clear steps with a strict clock. First, he must cease and desist from all fresh claims. Next, he must withdraw each post on all used sites. Last, he must issue a clear and public apology.
Another part sets the cash stake. The firm asks for ₦1,000,000,000.00 in damages. They call it the cost for his “malicious publications.” They also warn of civil and criminal suits.
Why the lawyer is under fresh fire
The paper also lays out more hard points. It says he shared her private data in an unfit way. It calls that act “unethical and unprofessional.” It says he cannot feign lack of mind of what he did.
In addition, the letter links him to paid groups. It says he runs a WhatsApp hub that sells “privileged” info. It claims he gained such data by posing as her legal hand. It says that stance lacks valid “legal standing.”
Another line brings up old legal woes. The firm says he has past civil and crime-linked issues. They say this forms a pattern that must end at once. They warn him not to repeat such acts.
Finally, the paper ends with a stern tip. It reads “TAKE NOTICE” in full caps. It vows swift court steps if he fails to comply. It says there will be no more notice before such steps.
Meanwhile, May has been in the news this year. In July, she denied a viral “apology” note in her divorce row, through her camp.
Also this week, Emeka posted a shrine invite tied to a family case, which stirred fresh talk.
