Lagos police say they have caught a feared robber. They picked him up in Epe after strong field work. The arrest came on Friday, 19 September 2025. A gunman shot a man and stripped off his chain.

DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi gave the facts in a note. He says the suspect is John Samuel, aged twenty-eight. He comes from Akwa Ibom and has past jail time. He left prison this year after six years for robbery.
Earlier this week, the Lagos police hostel video probe drew wide talk. The Command says firm action will follow every clear breach.
CCTV captures Lagos street robbery
The clip comes from 18 August on Gbajobi Street, Ikeja. It shows a man fire an English pistol at Gbenga Obama. He then yanks a gold necklace and moves towards escape. A bike rider waits nearby to aid the escape.
Witnesses rush the man to a nearby private clinic. Doctors treat the gun wounds and later discharge him safely. Police say the chain is worth far more than paid. The suspect sold it for four million naira.
Fans also recalled the Lil Kesh jewellery robbery scare last month. Many say street theft now needs fast, bold checks.
Police track suspect to Epe
Officers trace him through field tips and strict phone work. They grab him in Epe and recover key proof. Detectives say he admits the sale of the jewellery. He names a buyer and gives facts on the gang.
The Command says it will charge all suspects soon. It has moved to find the bike rider and others. CP Olohudare Jimoh hails the team for brave, clean work. He orders discreet checks as the case grows bigger.
“John Samuel is vicious,” Oluseyi says in his note. “He shoots first, then grabs what he wants,” he adds. Police say he runs, yet they still close in fast. “We will prosecute once we end the probe,” the note says
