Within hours, the project crossed big unit marks in the United States. RIAA noted both gold and platinum on day one.
RIAA listing and why the jump happened
The RIAA site shows the release date as 19 September. It also lists gold and platinum on the same day.
RIAA Awards posted a short note on Instagram. “Her brand new album is out now and already RIAA certified Platinum,” the page wrote. It added, “Featuring the certified 9x Platinum hit ‘WAP’ and 5x Platinum ‘Up’.”
Those past hits sit on the tracklist here. Their huge numbers help the album pass the key marks.
Music site XXL also shared the fast update. Its post framed the news as “already certified platinum”.
Seven-year wait since her first full album
This is Cardi’s second full studio album. Her first album, Invasion of Privacy, dropped in April 2018.
The first album reached platinum in three months. It has now sold over six million units.
The star spoke often about the long wait this year. She finally set the date in June and held firm.
