Nigerian Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage has revisited one of the darkest periods of her life.

In a sit-down with UK media personality Zeze Mills, the 44-year-old recalled the events of 2021 when she lost her father and, just days later, had her private tape released online.
“It all happened at once” — Tiwa recalls
Tiwa explained that the events hit her at the same time, leaving her shocked and heartbroken.
“It all happened at once. My dad died and my s3x tape was released. The only way I could have survived was not to think about it,” she said.
The Somebody’s Son hitmaker revealed she made a conscious choice to protect her mental health. She avoided dwelling on the loss and the scandal, instead throwing herself into her music.
Focusing on career and love from fans
Tiwa shared that keeping her attention on her work and drawing strength from her fans helped her get through the storm. She described their support as a lifeline during that period.
Years later, she now feels grateful to still have a voice in the industry. “Just the fact that you even want to talk to me, people want to hear what I want to say after how many years… it feels good,” she told Zeze Mills.
This is not the first personal revelation Tiwa has shared on Zeze Mills’ show. In another part of the interview, the singer revealed she has frozen her eggs as a way to protect her future fertility, advising women in their 30s to consider the step early.
