Ghana has promised to keep its bond with Nigeria strong after protests broke out over Nigerians living in Ghana. The Ghanaian president met with Nigeria’s envoy to calm fears and assure safety for all.

He said both nations are like family with shared roots and history. He urged Nigeria not to worry about the unrest caused by the viral clip.
Viral video sparks unrest
The president explained that the protest started after a 10-year-old video of a Nigerian in Ghana was shared online. He said it created panic but the issue was quickly managed.
H.E Dr John Mahama noted that fewer than 50 people joined the protest. He assured that Nigerians and their businesses in Ghana will stay safe and protected.
Nigeria praises peace talks
Nigeria’s envoy Mrs Bianca Ojukwu Odumegwu thanked Ghana for the warm welcome. She explained her visit aimed to ease the fear caused by the viral video.
Mrs Bianca added that many Nigerians back home worried about the safety of their people in Ghana. She stressed the need to protect lives, homes, and trade.
Plan for joint body
Mrs Odumegwu Odumegwu said the trip would also help set up a Nigeria–Ghana Joint Commission. She said the group will work on youth migration and job loss among young people.
She also called on Nigerian youths to build the country. “We ask our youth to stay home, and if they must travel, they should be good ambassadors,” she said.
