Tacha criticises Nigerian youths for lack of courage and national interest
Reality TV star Anita Natacha Akide, better known as Tacha, has taken a strong swipe at Nigerian youths. She described her generation as the “dumb*st and most cowardly” in a viral post on X (formerly Twitter).

Tacha expressed her deep frustration over how today’s young people behave. She said many prefer to focus on leaving the country, becoming content creators, and seeking comfort, instead of getting involved in national development.
In her words, “My generation of Nigerians are the d*mb*st and most cowardly. Funny how we blame the ones before us for ruining Nigeria. Ex-president Buhari, in his 20s, was part of a coup, fighting for what he believed in.”
“We’ve buried the next generation” – Tacha fumes
The former BBNaija star didn’t stop there. She compared today’s youths to past generations who boldly fought for power and change.
Tacha wrote, “What are today’s 20-year-olds up to? Japa. Believe me when I say we’ve not just failed the next generation, we’ve buried it. Back in the day, young Nigerians were fearless about taking a stance in national affairs.”
She stressed that unlike those before them, today’s youths are more focused on securing visas, chasing clout on social media, and writing trendy tweets.
“I use my voice… this isn’t about me” – Tacha defends her post
While many took her words personally, Tacha clarified that her message wasn’t aimed at anyone in particular. She said the issue runs deeper than individuals.
“Y’all ask, ‘what have you done?’ I used my voice. I speak, I show up, I refuse to be quiet,” she wrote.
She concluded by saying the tweet was about an entire generation that avoids discomfort, even when the country is at stake.
Her post has sparked widespread reactions, with some supporting her boldness and others calling her out for being harsh. Regardless, Tacha has once again stirred important conversations about youth involvement in Nigeria’s future.
