Drake Shows Love to London Rappers, Calls Them the Best Lyricists
Canadian rapper Drake has boldly claimed that no rapper in the world can out-rap those from London. Speaking during his appearance at the Wireless Festival, Drake said he has deep respect for UK rappers and dreams of matching their level one day.

“London rappers are the best lyricists in the world,” he said on stage. “No disrespect to America but nobody in the world can out rap London rappers. This is the highest level, this is what I aspire to be.”
The rapper, who has often shown love to the UK music scene, stood firm on his opinion, making it clear that London’s talent continues to inspire him.
Skepta Recently Asked for UK vs US Rap Battle
Drake’s comments come shortly after British rapper Skepta openly called for a rap face-off between UK and US acts. In a post that went viral, Skepta suggested a 5-on-5 lyrical battle that would pit top names from each side of the Atlantic against each other.
His tweet read, “UK vs US. 5 a side. Let’s go bar for bar. No pop songs. Straight lyrics. Who’s picking the team?”
Fans quickly began making fantasy picks, suggesting names like Stormzy, Dave, Little Simz, and Central Cee for Team UK, while placing Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Nas, and Jay-Z on the possible US side.
Drake Has Long Shown Love for UK Scene
This isn’t the first time Drake has backed UK talent. He’s featured several British artists on his records, including Skepta, Giggs, and Headie One.
His love for grime and drill music is well-known, and many fans believe he’s been one of the strongest bridges between UK and US hip-hop.
Drake’s latest statement adds more fuel to the growing talk of a transatlantic rap battle, especially as fans continue pushing for Skepta’s dream matchup to happen.
