CDQ recalls Davido’s big offer after ‘Indomie’ blew up
Nigerian rapper CDQ has shared that he once turned down a record deal from Afrobeats superstar Davido.
The rapper said the offer came shortly after his breakout hit ‘Indomie’ made waves in the music scene.

Speaking in an interview with Echo Room, CDQ said Davido reached out to him through Twitter. At the time, the DMW boss had just returned from an African tour and wanted to support fresh talent.
Davido wanted to make CDQ “Africa’s biggest rapper”
CDQ explained that Davido was excited to invest in his career.
He recalled, “Davido said he made a lot of money from his African tour. He told me he wanted to use that money to sign me and make me the biggest rapper in Africa.”
However, CDQ insisted that his producer Masterkraft had to be part of any deal.
So both of them met with Davido to talk about it.
Why the deal didn’t work out
During the meeting, Masterkraft told Davido that CDQ was already a growing movement.
Rather than a regular record deal, he asked Davido to consider a partnership instead.
Unfortunately, Davido wasn’t interested in a partnership and turned it down.
Because of that, the deal didn’t go through.
Even though the deal fell apart, CDQ still speaks highly of Davido and the offer.
