Kiddwaya Reacts After Criticism for Asking Public to Donate
Big Brother Naija star Kiddwaya has responded after facing strong criticism over his call for donations to help victims of the Benue massacre.
Last weekend, a deadly attack happened in Yelewata, a community in Benue State. Reports say that suspected herdsmen killed over 200 people, leaving many families in pain and need.
In response, Kiddwaya took to social media through his foundation to ask Nigerians to donate money. He said the funds would go towards helping the affected families. However, many people did not take this well.
Critics Slam Kiddwaya for Asking Public for Help
Social media users, as well as activist VeryDarkMan pointed fingers at Kiddwaya, saying his request didn’t match his flashy lifestyle. They argued that someone who regularly shares photos of luxury trips, designer clothes, and expensive food should have donated privately.

Due to the harsh reactions, Kiddwaya quickly deleted the donation post on his X (Twitter) page.
Kiddwaya Explains Why He Made the Appeal
Despite the backlash, Kiddwaya has now spoken out again. He thanked everyone for talking about the issue, saying it helped bring more attention to the crisis in Benue.
“I am happy with the attention that I am getting,” he said. “Because it shines the light on how important the Benue crisis is. So I thank you all.”
He also explained that the money raised would be used to give urgent help to victims.
“This money will be used to help some families by providing shelter, clothing, food, and medicine,” he added. “If you or someone you know has been affected, please email us. We will do our best to help you.”
Kiddwaya Vows Support Despite Criticism
Kiddwaya stood firm on his plan to support victims. He said his goal is to help those who are truly in need, no matter what people think of him.
The reality star’s response has received mixed reactions online, but some have praised him for still trying to help.
Whether loved or hated, Kiddwaya’s voice has brought attention to a serious crisis that many Nigerians may not have heard about.
