Key Points:
- Davido cancels his Tottenham Hotspur Stadium show set for 3rd July 2025.
- He blames organisers for not meeting performance standards.
- The Afrobeats star demands respect for African music and promises a solo London show.
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has pulled out of a much-anticipated joint concert at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, originally scheduled for 3rd July 2025. The event was set to feature major American stars 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige, but fans will now miss out on seeing Davido perform live.
In a statement posted to his Instagram Story on Saturday, Davido explained the reason behind the sudden cancellation. He blamed unresolved issues with the event’s organisers, Iconic Presents, saying they failed to meet important requirements needed to ensure the quality of his performance.
“Key elements” ignored by event organisers
Davido shared that he and his team had worked hard for weeks in preparation. He fully supported the promoters, The Necto Future Group, but claimed there were “major misalignments” in the show’s planning. He pointed out that key elements needed to deliver a top-quality performance were not provided.

Despite strong ticket sales and massive fan excitement, the singer said the problems were never fixed. This left him with no option but to step away from the concert to protect the integrity of his work and show respect for African creativity.
Davido speaks on respect and culture
In his message, Davido hinted at issues beyond logistics. He suggested the treatment of African artists was unfair and called for more respect for African culture.
“This decision is not about ticket sales or fan support,” he wrote. “It’s about standing for what’s right—my craft, my fans, and my culture.”
He stressed that Africa must be respected, making it clear that he values dignity and professionalism more than anything else.
Davido promises solo London show
Davido told his fans not to worry. Although he won’t appear at the July 3rd concert, he promised to return to London later in the summer as part of his 5Alive Europe Tour.
He reassured fans that the rest of his tour would go on as planned, with upcoming shows in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, and the United States.
It’s worth noting that Davido’s peers, Burna Boy and Wizkid, have both successfully sold out the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the past.
