The popular Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has recently expressed his dismay over claims made by cross-dresser Bobrisky regarding their interactions during Bobrisky’s imprisonment.
This revelation has sparked a considerable amount of outrage on social media and raised questions about the nature of their relationship.
Bobrisky’s Imprisonment and Claims
Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, was sentenced to three months in prison after he admitted guilt in a case involving naira mutilation. Following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), he served time behind bars before being released on 5th August 2024.
In a surprising turn of events, a self-proclaimed activist and social critic, Martins Otse—better known as VeryDarkMan—leaked an alleged voice recording of Bobrisky on Tuesday, 24th September 2024.
In this recording, Bobrisky claimed that a prominent Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son, Falz, played a crucial role in persuading the EFCC to drop money laundering charges against him while he was incarcerated. He had since denied this, calling it fake.
However, Falz is not taking these allegations lightly. In response to the outrage that cascaded across various social media platforms, he turned to his legal representatives at Falana & Falana’s Chambers to issue a public denial.
Falz’s Denial and Criticism of VeryDarkMan
According to Falz, the only communication he had with Bobrisky during his time in prison was a request for financial assistance.
Specifically, he asserted that Bobrisky sought a sum of three million naira to facilitate a bribe for officials, allowing him to remain in the VIP section of the correctional facility.
Falz was clear in his message: he did not initiate any conversation regarding legal matters while Bobrisky was serving his sentence.
In a letter that has since gone viral on social media, Falz not only denied the accusations made by Bobrisky but also admonished VeryDarkMan for publishing what he described as a “careless statement.”
He expressed concern over the multiple allegations contained within the leaked recording, noting that the activist failed to reach out to him for clarification before making such serious claims.
The ongoing saga highlights the complexities of celebrity interactions in the public eye, as both Falz and Bobrisky grapple with the implications of the allegations in the digital landscape.
With social media as a powerful platform for both support and backlash, the story continues to unfold, capturing the attention of countless followers and raising broader questions about accountability and the influence of public figures.
