Rick Ross is currently dealing with a fresh legal issue as he faces a lawsuit from a man who claims that his car show was not accessible to disabled individuals.
Event Promotions and Accessibility Promises
Darris Straughter has filed a lawsuit against Rick Ross, alleging that the rapper and businessman failed to make his car show accessible for people with disabilities.
Straughter accuses Ross of marketing the event as a must-visit experience but failing to deliver on essential accessibility promises.
According to Straughter, he was excited to attend Rick Ross’ Car & Bike Show and went to great lengths to make it happen.
He paid for travel and lodging, bought a ticket, and even sold his car to fund the trip.
He states that he reached out to the event’s organizers two weeks in advance to inform them of his need for reasonable accommodations due to his wheelchair usage.
Unfulfilled Assurances and Legal Actions
Despite receiving multiple assurances from the event organizers that a wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus would be available, Straughter claims that no such shuttle arrived.
After waiting for several hours in the parking lot, he ultimately gave up, gave away his ticket, and returned to his hotel in frustration.
Straughter and his lawyer, John Hoover Esq., assert that the show organizers had promised to refund anyone who could not access the event.
However, Straughter maintains that he never received any follow-up or refund.
As a result, he is now suing Rick Ross for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Straughter is seeking monetary damages and is also requesting a court order to ensure that future events hosted by Ross provide the necessary disabled access.
This lawsuit highlights significant concerns around accessibility and the importance of ensuring that public events cater to all individuals, regardless of their physical capabilities.
