Indigenous Nigerian rapper Chinonso Nwodo professionally known as Kolaboy has been put in a state of quagmire by a copyright intruder who stole his song’s snippet and unlawfully uploaded it to streaming sites.
Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, June 21, the “Kolapiano” crooner disclosed that an intruder has converted the video snippet of his forthcoming track Kolapiano Vol. 2 (Isakaba) into mp3 and distributed it to digital platforms.
He, however, urged his fans to bear with him as his management team is working on recovering the ownership of the sound, and as such take legal action against the culprit.
Kolaboy’s statement reads;
“This is to notify my fans and the general public that there has been a copyright infringement on Kolapiano Vol. 2 (Isakaba) featuring Ojadiligbo and produced by Caution LXE.
“The reason being that an overzealous individual has uploaded the one minute snippet he converted into mp3 to digital platforms.
“The copyright infringement and claim on my sound recording also has resulted to the take down of the snippet on my TikTok Account as well as that of Ojadiligbo and Caution LXE with all the videos connected to the sound unlinked.
“My team and I are currently taking every legal measure to ensure the brain(s) behind this are brought to book and the song you have come to love and enjoy released to you on all platforms as soon as possible.
“We are sorry that your expectations of having the song out already haven’t been met, we are also saddened by this heartbreaking occurrence and will do our best. Thanks for all your love and Support, we are not going to let you down. Thanks, Kolaboy (Odia)”.
Hours after the first press release, Kolaboy comes with a second notice, and this time, he notified his supporters that the missing audio on all TikTok videos uploaded in connection to the Kolapiano Vol. 2 (Isakaba) is as a result of the intruder’s nuisance. He added that the intruder’s audio has been taken down.
He assured his supporters and listeners that once the official song Kolapiano Vol. 2 (Isakaba) is released on Friday, June 23, all sound will be restored, however, should anyone still has a silent video, kindly add the original sound to it.
Kolaboy wrote, “Incase you are wondering why the sound on the “kolapiano vol 2” video you did on your tiktok was removed Some intruder distributed the snippet and copyrighted it that’s why they removed the sound from all videos.
“But his sound has be taken down, on friday (23rd june) the sound will be officially out on tiktok platform as (kolapiano vol 2 isakaba by kolaboy ft ojadiligbo) so you can change the sound on your video and add it, Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience”.
