Nigerian superstar singer Davido claimed that he and Wizkid were the first young artistes to make it to the limelight before the likes of Burna Boy, Rema, and other singers.
Davido stated this during a recent interview, where he noted that after he and Wizkid blew, other new cats like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake started to emerge.
The singer however added that it feels really good seeing that his and Wizkid’s limelight birthed the limelight of other music acts.
In his words, “Everybody knows. I was first, me and Wizkid to blow up. It feels good. And then seeing the new cats coming up. Like Burna Boy, Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun. You know a lot of new cats coming, killing it. Asake, thanks for my album”.

Reactions have trailed social media platforms following Davido’s seemingly controversial statement. Some of Burna Boy’s crew members have reacted to the video, as they shade Davido for referring to Burna Boy as a new cat.
