There have been controversies emanating from Big Brother Naija Beauty’s emergence as the Best Dressed Female at the 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCA event last night, Saturday, May 20.
Beauty Etsanyi Tukura defeated the likes of actress Osas Ighodaro, and BBNaija Shine Ya Eye star Liquorose, amongst other female celebs to gain a victory in the AMVCA Best Dressed category.
Following her triumph, Beauty made it through criticisms coming from viewers and critics who dig up insistence that Beauty, alongside Liquorose, Venita, and others purchased fake social media likes and comments to boost their chances of winning the award.
While the award night was ongoing, reports were made that Beauty and Liquorose’s supporters were paying for fake likes and comments for them.
It was cited that Liquorose’s supporters were pressing harder to surpass Beauty’s supporters who already helped Beauty stay ahead of other contestants.
Instances were given where Beauty’s supporters before the voting period elapsed kept her on top with not less than 4k comments and 150k likes, while Liquorose was at not less than 3k comments and 140k likes.
Well-meaning observers and netizens who were concerned with the trend admonished that AMVCA organizers should reevaluate how the viewers pick their best dressed.
Besides, the male Best Dressed category which had BBNaija star Tobi, reality tv star Saga, and actor cum winner Enioluwa Adeoluwa wasn’t portrayed in such an unhealthy competition as the female category.
