• Cross shared a post announcing that he had a live video chat with Nigeria’s former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, indirectly hinting on supporting him during the 2023 general election.
Former Big Brother Naija season 6 Shine Ya Eye star and ex-housemate, Pere Egbi, alongside other well-meaning citizens have reacted to the update made by ex-Shine Ya Eye star, Cross Ikechukwu Okonkwo.
Cross took to his Twitter page on Wednesday night, June 1, and stated that he had a quick chat on live video, with People Democratic Party, PDP’s Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The reality star, expressed his likeness for the Adamawa State-native, as he drums support for him come February 2023 general election in Nigeria.
Cross also ponders on who His Excellency Atiku Abubakar would choose as his Vice and running mate, under the platform of PDP.
“Had a quick chat with my dad @atiku his so funny guys. Who do you think his Vp will be 🤔🤔 just thinking 💭 out loud”, Cross tweeted alongside screenshot of himself on live video call with Mr Abubakar.
Reacting to Cross’ post hours later, co-reality star, Pere Egbi, who happens to be one of the closest friends to Cross, and non-supporter of Atiku’s Presidential ambition, noted that Cross is free, just like every other Nigerian citizen, to support whoever candidate they like.
Pere advised that everyone should have a choice of candidate and should support whoever they want, and there’s period.
“Cross is free just like every Nigerian citizen to support whoever he feels. Everyone should have a choice and support whoever they want. Period. No apologies”, Pere reacted.
However, social media users and Nigerians don’t buy the idea of Cross supporting someone majority of Nigerians have been against becoming the country’s president.
They also believe that supporting Atiku wouldn’t leave an impact for a better country, tracing back to the man’s history and bad records, even as the former Vice President under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Below are few of the reactions from Twitter users, who commented under Pere’s post.
@_nnebaby: “Pere you don’t have sense, although I’m not surprised. The person your friend is campaigning for is the same person that tweeted about Deborah and deleted it bcos of his fellow abokis threatened not to vote for him”.
@VictoriaUkamak1: “How? social media noise, abeg go and campaign in the villages in all states, social media never win votes. Period. Want younger leader but twitter bants doesn’t affect politics.the decider of votes are core villages where tge education should be channel to not on twitter”.
@BellatrixEse: “Sure he’s free… but what happened to us making the country better together? Knowing fully well the outcome of sure choices”.
@Angelfavorite3: “He’s not free to support anyone he wants. Nigeria is HARD, we must support who will move us forward not who we like”.
@VictoriaUkamak1: “Truth is that a person who are in politics before now and belongs to a party eirher pdp or apc wont vote for labour party even though they are youth. #fact that is how i see cross action and I need new face as president but know this that twitter doesnt count.”
@best_lanre: “And that cross is among the sorosoke voice , it’s so sad that we the youths are hypocrites and covetous. I pray Nigeria get better, but for now we’re not ready”.
