BBNaija’s Maria educates Pere on how flight works, as against leaving phone on, while in airplane

• Maria and Daddy Freeze have countered BBNaija star, Pere after he acclaimed that leaving a cell phone on while a flight is about to take off or land is very dangerous and can cause mishap on the plane.

Former Big Brother Naija season 6 Shine Ya Eye contestants and reality television stars, Pere and Maria have engaged in a debate, bothering on how flight works, as against when a passenger can leave a phone on or off while boarding a plane.

On Friday, November 19, Pere took to his Twitter page and advised his fans, and Nigerians that when a flight crew announced that phones should be turned off when a flight is about to take off or land, it’s advisable we obey them.

Pere suggested that the calls and texts a passenger is about to make during those critical phases of taking off or landing should wait, because it’s dangerous.

“Dear Nigerians, when the flight crew says turn off all mobile devices especially during the critical phases of taking off and landing, TURN IT OFF! Those texts and calls can wait! Safety first! Happy Friday!,” Pere tweeted.

Then, reacting to Pere’s post, former On Air Personality, and radio presenter, Daddy Freeze counters him, saying that there’s absolutely nothing a mobile phone can do to the equipment of a modern aircraft, even if the mobile phone is on a call during landing and taking off.

He further clarifies that reason most flights advise passengers to switch off their phones is for security reasons. For instance, so that someone won’t make calls from the flight to say that there’s a bomb or the plane is about to crash.

Daddy Freeze wrote, “Dear Nigerians, rest your minds, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING a mobile phone can do to the equipment of a modern aircraft even if the mobile phone is on a call during landing and taking off. I hereby challenge any pilot to debate this with me.

“The only reason why you are told to switch off your phones is for security reasons. So someone won’t call from the flight and say there’s a bomb or the plane is about to crash. Knowledge is power!”

Moreover, former Shine Ya Eye star, and Pere’s colleague, Maria, who served as flight attendant for 6 years with Emirates Airlines concurred with Daddy Freeze.

Maria stated in a post shared on her Instagram page that there’s absolutely nothing that can happen to the aircraft at any stage of flight, be it take off, cruise or landing, when a passenger’s phone is switched on or on a call.

“Nigerians, As an ex flight attendant for 6 years and a trained basic pilot there’s absolutely nothing that can happen to the aircraft/flight at any stages of the flight, take off, cruise and landing stages. Thank you,” Maria noted.
