• Maria tried to share with Biggie during her diary session that Angel has been the one making the Male Housemates seem not to be making advances at her due to her personality and lifestyle.
Maria‘s ‘boys will be boys’ comment has driven so many people to react as to why she was able to see her co-housemate, Angel as flirt just because of how she has chosen to play the BBNaija game.
Angel’s dad is one of the persons who shared an open reaction, as he fires back at Maria over the ‘boys will be boys’ comment which she made during her chat in diary room on Wednesday, August 18, with Big Brother.
While trying to ascertain Angel’s relationship with the male Housemates in the House, Biggie asked Maria what’s her view as regards the male contestants not respecting their relationship with partners and rejecting Angel’s advances.
Maria answered: “I totally agree with what you’re saying but I think at the end of the day men, or rather should I say boys will be boys. If anything easy comes their way, they run with it.”

Cutting-in during her response and concluding the session, Biggie said to Maria, “If as you say, ‘boys will be boys’, then maybe Angel will be Angel.”
However, while reacting to the diary session, Angel’s dad, who is known to be handling her social media pages, made a post via her Instagram account @theangeljbsmith hours later to address Maria’s comment.
He asked: “We live in a patriarchal society where men are not held accountable for their actions in the name of ‘men will be men’. Who made the rules?”
He further stated that society should allow women to be “liberal with their bodies without making them feel easy or cheap.”
He continued; “A woman isn’t easily accessible because she chooses to be liberal with her body. It is important we hold men accountable for their actions the way we hold women also, isn’t that what equality stands for? To excuse grave mistakes with the phrase ‘boys will be boys’ has to stop.”
He also noted that in the fight for equality, “when a fellow woman keeps making excuses for the men it takes us a 100 steps back.”
He added; “That being said, Angel will be Angel in Big Brother’s voice,”

Meanwhile, Angel’s dad has been one of her die-hard supporters since she got into the House. Recall earlier in the show, when she was blasted for wearing a mini see-through dress during a fashion challenge, her father hailed her via a post for being body positive.
Angel dad’s complete reaction to Maria’s comment reads below.
“We live in a patriarchal society where men aren’t held accountable for their actions in the name of “men will be men” who made the rules? Because it’s a sh*tty rule, women aren’t object of blame, a woman shouldn’t be slut-shamed while the guy gets away with “you know how boys are”.”
“This has been going on in our society for a long time and there’s a lot of unlearning to do, allow women to be liberal with their bodies without making them feel easy or cheap, we keep fighting for equality but when a fellow woman keeps making excuses for the men it takes us 100 steps back.
“A woman isn’t easily accessible because she chooses to be liberal with her body. It’s important we hold men accountable for their actions, as we hold women also, isn’t that what equality stands for? To excuse the grave mistakes of the phrase “boys will be boys” has to stop.
“When people especially women say “boys will be boys,” they end up promoting a harmful rhetoric using a cute, seemingly innocuous phrase to remind us all that men and women are inherently different. To reinforce the assumption that boys are wired to be a certain way and therefore will be that way no matter what.
“If men will be men, then women will be women. That being said Angel will be Angel in the voice of big brother.”
