• Favour is a model, make-up artist and a brand influencer from Enugu State, South Eastern Nigeria.
• She had been one-armed since she was 6 years old after an unfortunate circumstance beyond her control.
So many questions have been asked on the reason, Favour Nneamaka Nelson, the younger sister to Big Brother Naija season 5 Lockdown reality television star, Praise Nelson is one-armed.
This has been going on for years during which Favour had always been seen in photoshoots hiding the affected left arm from the public view until in October 2019 when the young lady took a bold step to reveal she’s actually a proud and beautiful one-armed girl.
During that time, Favour shared several photos on her Instagram page which revealed her unfortunate predicament.
Then, in October 2020, she told the world her story starting from when and how she lost one of the major parts of her body, the arm.
According to Favour, in May 2006, she got involved in an accident that led to her losing the left arm. She underwent three unpleasant surgeries in a bid to bring her arm back but as God may have it, she survived, but with only her right arm.
Since then, she has continued to blossom into the warrior that she is today. Favour has not only given people with similar experience a glimpse of hope but she is evidence that you can be whoever you want to be, regardless of circumstances.
On her 20th birthday in 2019, which was the first day she disclosed she’s one-armed, Favour wrote, “#chapter20. This is who I am. After an unfortunate event, a hard yet necessary decision, Three unpleasant surgeries and one heck of a comeback! No filter, no armour, no walls.. I bare my scar as a reminder that I was stronger than what tried to overpower me.
“Life has been overwhelming and at the same time eye-opening… 13 years ago I was pushed to my limits as a little girl and I came out a freaking survivor, and as a matter of fact, a happy child.. I won’t say it was easy but, with sheer will and determination I am still here today in all my glory as a child of grace.
“God has been faithful and merciful to me and I have every reason to thank Him for as long as I live. I’m not asking for your pity (lol, been there, done that) or anything of that sort but to use this medium as a source of hope, faith and perseverance that there’s always a reason to go on.
“I’m not in the slightest ashamed of my appearance instead it serves as a daily reminder of my strength and bravery.”
While sharing some words of encouragement with people who might be going through similar situation, she also said, “You might be facing or have faced a similar experience or know someone who has. You’re not alone. I know how it is to feel helpless and worthless but then again, I also know how it feels to overcome these and emerge a survivor, a warrior and an example of God’s goodness and grace.”
And on Friday, December 4, 2020, her brother and BBNaija 2020 Lockdown ex-housemate, Praise Nelson took to his social media pages to celebrate her as she turned 21.
Praise wrote, “Happy Birthday my Precious Jewel, May your days be filled with Lands and Diamond, Much love baby girl.. Big Bro Loves you❤️ Cc: @favournelson.”
