Nigerian social media critic and actor, Uche Maduagwu has thrown imperative question at Lagos State government over the unusual process with which it carried out in penalizing actress, Funke Akindele after she was found guilty of flouting lockdown and social distancing order in Lagos.
In his recent Instagram post, Uche noted that an answer is required to big question why other defaulters weren’t penalized or punished like was done to Funke. And possibly, the actor thought it was because a prominent politician, (Bola Tinubu) was involved.
In view of that, he continues that Lagosians are not guinea pigs and as such shouldn’t be subjected to a lockdown without adequate relief materials to ease off the pain of not having to go about their daily businesses.
Again, Uche emphasized on the numerous donations directed to federal government in fight against Covid-19 outbreak. And according to him, it is absolutely inhumane to see banks and telecommunication companies rushing to donate billions of naira to the government unaware that the citizens need the donations more than the government.
Take a glance at Uche’s post below;
“Lagosians are not guinea pigs, no amount of fear driven #Covid19 campaign is authentic enough to justify government inadequate palliative during lockdown. Why did they not pardon @funkejenifaakindele like they did to the other two? Could it be due to the fact that a big politician was involved? So, what signal did that send to Lagosian?”
“Why are banks rushing to donate billions to ‘assist’ government fight #coronavirus, yet, never thought it was wise to split the money into two, give government half and distribute the remaining to vulnerable Nigerians via their bank account during this pandemic?
“Also, how come telecommunication companies feel more comfortable to giving billions of Naira to our government to ‘fight’ coronavirus, but never thought it was in the best interest of their loyal customers across #naija to split that money into two, give government half and assist vulnerable nigerians with daily stipulated free data and credit to reducing the harsh effect of lockdown but instead, some of us are paying 20 Naira extra on recharge cards, who is fooling who?”
