Popular Nigerian standup comedian, AY Makun, has begged Nigerians on Twitter to have mercy on him after they called him out on the social media platform for two days for defending Funke Akindele and her husband, JJC Skillz.
Recall that recently, Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, JJC Skillz, were arrested, arraigned and sentenced to 14 days community service with a fine of N100,000 each.
Sequel to this occurrence, the comedian took to social media to berate Nigerians who triggered Funke‘s arrest, asking them to channel their media strength towards “government oppressors” who have long looted their national treasury instead.
He wrote:
“YES! NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW. BUT I WISH THOSE OF YOU WHO CALLED OUT @funkeakindele
CAN DO SAME WITH YOUR COUNTLESS OPPRESSORS IN GOVERNMENT… EVEN WHEN THE SKY IS FILLED WITH CLOUDS THE SUN STILL SHINES ABOVE. FUNKE WILL RISE AGAIN.#LESSONSLEARNT”
However, his tweet backfired thereby resulting to several backlashes which went on for two days nonstop.
As a result of the severe backlashes, comedian, AY has pleaded for mercy from Nigerian Twitter users. He also revealed that the insults he got have left him with severe chest pains and no appetite for food.
AY wrote:
“TWITTERIANS ABEG NA! SINCE YESTERDAY MY CHEST HAS BEEN PAINING ME WITH NO APPETITE 4 FOOD.THE INSULTS ARE TOO MUCH.CAN YOU ALL JUST REDUCE MY SENTENCE TO JOINING @funkeakindele
FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE AND SELF ISOLATION FROM TWITTER FOR 14 DAYS? I AM SORRY. UNA PITY PERSON PAPA NA”
But when AY realized that his plea wasn’t getting him anywhere, he decided to “cool their temper” with a 100k giveaway, but severely warned those who dragged him to stay away from participating.
