Yesterday, April 13, 2020, the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, announced that the ongoing covid-19 inspired lockdown has been extended by 14 days.
The 14 days lockdown extension has made the ongoing mandatory stay-at-home order a complete 1 month lockdown exercise.
And this has crippled the nation’s economy and made life difficult for average Nigerian income earners who rely on proceeds made from daily tussles to feed.
On this note, fast rising Nigerian singer, Zlatan Ibile, has taken his mattress to an unidentified road in the commercial city of Lagos to express the level of frustration the lockdown extension has caused him.
The artist is seen lying helplessly frustrated on a mattress placed on a commercial road that had vehicles passing by.
The artist even had to pen down his Access Bank Account details, as he indirectly solicits for help to aid him for the remaining days of lockdown.
As comic as this may appear to anyone, it is indirectly passing a clear message.
It is true that musicians depend on shows and concerts for survival and if this lockdown persists, hunger might just be at their doorsteps knocking.
This is a major reason entertainers are advised to diversify their source of earning so as to have multi income streams and not rely just on showbiz for survival.
The “Zanku/Leg Work” crooner made this known on Instagram Today, April 14, 2020 on the photo and video sharing app, Instagram.
