Rapper, M.I Abaga Walks Out Of Chocolate City After 13 Years

One of the finest rappers the Nigerian music industry has ever produced, Jude Lemfani Abaga, popularly known as Mr. Incredible or simply M.I for short, has finally taken a bold step to take a bow at the Chocolate City, a record label he has painstakingly nurtured and built for 13 solid years.

Here’s a brief walk to yesterday: Chocolate City used to be a leading music group in Nigeria a couple of years back and is known to have produced lots of bigwigs and top dogs in the Nigerian music industry, popular among them are; M.I himself, Ice Prince Zamani – the Oleku crooner, Brymo – the Ara crooner, Jesse Jagz and the Otedola crooner, Dice Alice.

According to the Plateau born rap monarch, he had never dreamt of ever leaving the label as he had always wanted to live to see it become one of the greatest music and entertainment companies around the world

The soon-to-be 39-year-old recording and performing artist shared the heartbreaking news on his verified Twitter handle in which he made the post captured in the screenshot below;

M.I however moved over to Instagram to replicate a similar post which reaffirmed his decision to leave his darling Chocolate City.

On instagram, the caption reads;

There is a lot of truth in my new EP the “Judah EP”… (1.) I had a dream that CBN would be the greatest group the world had ever seen.. it was on me.. and today I announce my decision to finally let go and move on to something new! Thank you for your support and love for 13 years.. and if your still with me!! Let’s go..”

M.I, among the likes of 2Baba and Wizkid, is one of the very few Nigerian artists who have lasted more than 10 years in the music industry and have continued to remain relevant even afterwards, unlike some unfortunate musicians who walk into stardom and fade the following year.

In fact, during the reign of M.I, he was known for winning beefs and would forever be remembered for killing Kelly Handsome‘s music career.

Recall that the former Chocolate City frontliner has been behind the scene for quite some time now. Recently, he got involved in a beef with Vector Tha Viper which many saw as a strategy to gain back his lost glory.

However, this big announcement seems to be a pointer to a possible comeback in his music career.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and see what comes out of this regardless.
