League Cup under threat as UEFA President calls on English FA to axe the competition

UEFA President Alexsander Ceferin says his concern is based on fixture congestion in football but thinks the only simple solution is for English football to follow France’s example and scrap their league cup.

The league cup started in 1960 and since then, it has become one of the domestic football competition in England alongside Premier League and FA cup.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City lifted the Carabao cup for the third successive season when they trash Aston villa 2-1 in the final at Wembley.

“The League cup is off in France already”, only England is yet to ditch theirs, Caferin says.
