European court of Human Rights refused to grant former UEFA head Michel Platini’s appeal against a four year ban from football over $2million.
According to the unanimous appeal court judges based in Strasbourg, Platini’s suspension from football related professional activities was justified.
The court noted that with regards to the high position held by Platini in football governing bodies, there is need to restore the reputation of sport and FIFA, the sanction they say did not appear excessive or arbitrary.
Michel Platini and his vice president was handed eight year ban in 2015 by the FIFA ethics committee following an investigation over the payment he received.
