In a trending post recently shared on Facebook by the Odessa Police Department, a smart and clever dog identified as Chico, allegedly pulled up at the front desk to report himself missing after running away from home at about 3:30AM.
According to the post, the one-year-old German shepherd dog wore a collar but had no ID tag which was thought might have fallen off on his way to the police station.
The post reads:
This happy guy randomly strolled into the front desk of the Police Department last night
Report says the police-in-charge at the moment had immediately phoned the Animal Control Services to come and scan the dog’s microchip as a way of identifying the owner but the dog quickly ran off and disappeared. According to the police, they immediately searched around but realized he was no more within the police premises.
According to the police-in-charge, Sergeant Rusty Martin, he encountered an unexpected surprise the moment he saw an image of a dog-head pop out on the glass-window front desk of the Odessa Police Station in Texas, United States.
According to the second paragraph of the post, it reads:
Although the dog did not look distressed, he ‘reported’ himself missing after running away from home when he saw the gate was left wide open.
The post added:
He was given lots of love and attention until he decided it was time to leave
The next day, the police officer learned that the dog whose name is Chico, had gone back to his owner, Edward Alvarado.
Edward said his nephew had come across the viral post and immediately informed him at a time the dog had already returned
