It’s been a hidden scenario for decades as academic institutions in West Africa have increasingly been wallowing in allegations of sexual harassment by lecturers.
With the recent video released by BBC Africa Eye, it’s important to note that this type of abuse is said to be endemic, but it’s almost never proven.
After series of interviews with the students of these prestigious Universities, BBC Africa Eye sent undercover journalists posing as students inside the University of Lagos and the University of Ghana.
The BBC Africa Eye female reporters while on their investigations were also sexually harassed, and pressurised by the senior lecturers at the institutions while wearing secret cameras.
In University of Lagos, two lecturers, Dr Boniface Igbeneghu and Professor Dolapo were involved while in University of Ghana, Dr Paul Kweme Butakor, and Professor Ransford Gyampo were shown in the video.
However, Radio presenter and journalist, Kiki Mordi, who was harassed while she was a student reveals in the video below what have been hidden for decades
