The internet on October 2 went buzzing in excitement when a man identified as Stephen M. Teru shared photos of desks, benches, shelves and tables he built for over 80 students in his NYSC host community.
This great work was shared by Stephen on his social media platform, Facebook. And on the photos were also the images of him preparing for the construction of those furniture.
According to the Adamawa State born who lives in Jos, he volunteered to produce the furniture for over 80 students of Community Secondary School and St. George’s Primary School in Old Netim, Akamkpa LGA, Cross River State, Nigeria, his NYSC host community.
Some social media users had since that day gone to his comment section to commend him for the great work and gesture, praying for him that the doors of greatness will surely open for him.
His post reads:
“To God be the glory! I volunteered my skill to produce desks, tables, benches and shelves for the comfort of over 80 students and pupils of the two public schools (Community Secondary School and St. Georges Primary School) in my host community -Old Netim, Akamkpa LGA. Cross River State.”

Big thanks to my ever supportive principal Mr Emmanuel Eni Sir, you are too much! My NYSC Inspector, Mr Ubong Effanga, thank you Sir! You’ve been a great source of motivation to us all. All my friends and colleagues, thanks for being there. My family at Jos, this is for you!”
Meanwhile, National Youth Service Corps is a mandatory one-year program instituted for Nigerian citizens who graduated from University in the country and any part of the world.
This young man, Stephen M. Teru however has utilised the opportunity given to him during his one-service-year to give back to his host community through his craft and it’s really a thing to celebrate and may the good Lord bless him abundantly.
