British Nigerian heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, has said he does not have any respect for Lennox Lewis after Lewis criticised his preparation for the fight against Andy Ruiz in which Joshua has lost the first meeting in New York.
In a tweet, Lewis said, “I can’t look at that fight and agree that AJ was fully prepared.”
Joshua reacting to the criticism in a Sky Sports documentary, said he was a different person from Lewis and so does things his own way. He also said his legacy is to sit back and watch younger generation and not get involved.
He said, “Lennox is a clown. I don’t respect Lennox. I and Lennox are not the same. My legacy is to sit back and enjoy the younger generation coming up, and not to be involved. Just to appreciate what it takes to get there. Lennox isn’t like that.”
In a counter tweet, Lennox replied Anthony Joshua’s statement saying that he’s “Disappointed in AJ’s words but I understand that this “jealousy” narrative was only fabricated AFTER I criticized them for Wilder negotiations. All of the sudden I’m a hater”.
However, Joshua is set to take on Ruiz in a rematch in Saudi Arabia on December 7. The International Boxing Federation, World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organisation heavyweight titles will be up for grab during the fight.
